I opened Marlow Goods in 2008 with the desire to produce the simple and hyper-functional leather goods that I needed for my life as a New Yorker. There was no leather that inspired me, so I set out to produce locally grown and tanned leather that connected with the ethos of the locally sourced produce, meat, dairy and grains that we offer at our Brooklyn food businesses: Diner, Marlow & Sons, Roman’s, She Wolf Bakery, Marlow & Daughters and Achilles Heel.
There was a lot of learning to do, and a lot of mistakes to be made but now we have found Beautiful Massachusetts Kip hides which are tanned in Montgomery NY, and all the bags are cut and sewn in Union City, NJ. Truly a local product that has been loved and cared for every step of the way, by people I consider to be family.

Being that we can’t grow cotton in the North East Climate, I couldn’t follow thru on a commitment for locally grown and produced apparel. The fabrics are mostly Khadi, hand spun and hand woven in West Bengal, India, and all clothes are sewn on 38th Street in Manhattan. The knit wear is knit in Arequipa, Peru.

RETURN POLICY:

Its my hope that you will be happy for many years to come with your purchase, but if for some reason it doesn’t work for you - email me kate@marlowgoods.com. I can arrange for an exchange, or a store credit. I cannot offer refunds for items, so before ordering, make sure that if your order doesn’t work out as planned that there are other items you’d be happy to receive in exchange for your return. My purpose for running Marlow Goods is not only to support the makers whose work is a dying craft in NYC, but also to support young people in the foster care system of NYC. All profits are donated to Pure Legacee Inc, based in Brownsville, Brooklyn. I do all of the production, sales and shipping for the brand, and do not take a salary. This work is a love letter to New Yorkers who have been systemically oppressed by poverty and by our unjust system of criminalizing people for simply trying to survive. All of the young people whom Pure Legacee’s work impacts have incarcerated parents and relatives. Naquasia Pollard, Pure Legacee’s founder and director, was incarcerated at the age of 18 years old, when newly pregnant, and was forced to serve 15 years in a state prison. So when you are purchasing an item from Marlow Goods, you are actually giving basic and necessary tools for thriving to your Brooklyn neighbors who have been chronically under supported. Pure Legacee offers monthly care boxes with items like: sanitary products, metrocards, bras, water, and other basic needs. They also offer internships, classes, big sister programs, Reiki therapy, and other therapies for healing from trauma.
